Roy Roundtree came back for a short pass to make a great grab in the endzone to win the game vs Notre Dame. Yet another exhausting, emotional roller coaster ride of a game. These outlandish finishes have become par for the course in this long rivalry and quite possibly has taken many years off of my life.

There is a lot of growing to be done on this Michigan team, but I loved the play calling attitude late in the game and the never give up gutsy play of the Wolverines.

After gulping down a few cups of coffee today, I started to think about the Purdue game. I use the word game loosely. Many comments on Twitter during the game, "Is this an episode of Peanuts", "This is like the Keystone Cops". With the plethora of turnovers and seemingly chaotic play calling it was quite an experience.

It was a win, an ugly win that gave me bitter beer face, but a win nonetheless. I personally thought that Michigan would again slide all the way through the rest of the Big Ten season without another win. I am glad they have avoided that.

This week I am taking a trip across the country to the Big House. I love to visit my family and go to the game. I love the amazing game day atmosphere, the sounds, the smells, tailgating. Along with my good feelings, I have a very sick feeling in my stomach, kind of like when you know punishment is coming, of course the 83 points the Badgers put up on the Hoosiers did nothing to help that feeling in my stomach, at all.

As always I will be there, all four quarters supporting my Wolverines and I always root for the win. Looking for a little of that magic that happened against Penn State, Henne to Manningham with 1 second on the clock.

Michigan here I come.

As predicted, once Michigan starts to play tough competition they start down the slide. Three years, the same pattern. Many people think the offense is amazing, and the only thing Michigan needs is a Defense. The offense is good, yet when they get in the trenches with the big boys it tends to be forced to play with a sense of desperation.

I do not pile all of the blame on Rich Rodriguez yet, he did recruit these players, and the numbers do not lie. Rich Rod is 4-16 against the Big Ten. That is no less than embarrassing. If Michigan manages to get one more win, what bowl game will they be in, and isn't that more embarrassing than not going at all?

Many excuses are flying around, injury, young players blah blah. It is not too much to ask for a defense to get better each week, at least a little. There has been no improvement as a matter of fact they have gotten worse.

Some say fire Rich Rod, others say get rid of Greg Robinson. I am pretty sure something will happen, soon. I know Michigan tradition, does not include fighting for who will be the next to last in the Big Ten.

The last Michigan vs Michigan state game I attended at the Big House, it was a great day to tailgate before and after the game. It is great to be able to relax during a, behind the wood shed beat down.

This game had a great blend of offensive strategy and smothering defense. This season's Michigan defense may want to take a peek at this game tape and then light a huge fire under their ass.

Yes, I am very happy Michigan is 5-0, and 1-0 in Big Ten play but, as I drink my coffee I taste a bit of piss and possibly some vinegar. The kind that Bo used to fill his defense with.

I am almost speechless, this Michigan defense is almost non-existent. It feels as though I am beating a dead horse, because Michigan's D is horrible but they are still winning (thank you Denard). I do not want Michigan to lose to prove the point that the D is horrible, I am just feeling like crap knowing that the day of reckoning is coming.

If Indiana can throw and run at will against Michigan's D, just imagine what the rest of the Big Ten has in store. MSU is this week and they are playing balls out, they have big bruising running backs that they are going to ram through Michigan's d-line like bowling night. The 3 man front is not working and has to go! (well neither is any front but...) How many more examples need to be presented? I am in no way presenting myself as a defensive expert, but a well executed blitz (under control) might be advantageous as well.

My hatred for Sparty goes to depths I care not to get into, and I hope we can heap gallons of misery upon them Saturday at the Big House, but I would be lying if I said I was not worried, nightmare and restless sleep worried.

I am not sure what needs to happen. The boot to Greg Robinson? recruit better talent on D? Make fun of all the Defensive players Mom's? Something has to happen and happen now.

Ugh, I need more cream.

If there was ever a time to (insert cliche here) it would be now, against Bowling Green. I am hoping for a surprise Saturday. The Michigan defense will come out fired up, tighter, more focused and absolutely pissed about getting torched by UMass.

If this defense does not come together and really put on a show, the rest of the season will not go well, at all. We all know this, it happened last season. Once Michigan got into Big Ten play and they came up against 6ft 200lb RB's and 360lb+ linemen, leaning on them week in and week out, things went south, way south. Yes I use too many comas, deal with, it.

I am far from convinced by the recruiting of smaller, faster players, and this "Barwis Effect" is obviously not in effect, at least I haven't seen it. (Whatever happend to the, "We will own the 4th quarter"?)

Maybe I am oldschool, but this defense needs to send offensive players a very clear message. Opposing receivers have to be hit and be looking out of the corner of their eye on the next pass, worried about the lick that is coming. Enough of this bullshit one arm tackling, this is not Playstation and no, you are not powerful enough to shoulder tackle either.

My hopes are not high, but I am always open to a good surprise.

U Mass came into the Big House with a game plan, exploit the Michigan Defense. They executed it well, and scored 37 points.

Keep this in mind, U Mass scored 27 against William & Mary and 31 against Holy Cross. I don't know about you, but I expect the defense of The University of Michigan to be able to hold U Mass to less than 37.

The Internet was a buzz with the words, "Appalachian State" and I got shivers up my spine.

Once again I am left longing for the mean, swarming, hard hitting defense of old.

Detroit News: Michigan back in top 25, gaining respect

Michigan moves to #20 and D Rob is in the Heisman race.

This type of early praise worries me and only makes it worse if and when Michigan slips. I want nothing more than Michigan to keep moving up in the polls and for another Michigan man to win a Heisman, but reality will set in when Michigan gets into the grind of Big Ten play.

Until then I hope Denard continues to be able to improve his throwing numbers and not using his feet as much. Would hate to see him go down to injury playing Mass or Bowling Green, with Big Ten play looming.

Ohio State "Special" Uniforms for Rivalry Game

BEAVERTON, Oregon - For the second year in a row, the Ohio State Buckeyes will wear a special jersey against rival Michigan. Last year, the Buckeyes wore their 1954 uniforms in their 21-10 victory over the Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

This year, Ohio State will wear a Pro Combat system uniform created by Nike. The Buckeyes are one of 10 major college football programs selected to wear this special uniform during the 2010 college football season. Other schools participating are Alabama, Boise State, Florida, Miami, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Texas Christian, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

The uniforms these schools will wear are engineered to provide superior protection and durability, while using advanced fabrics and tooling to reduce weight.

The Ohio State version will be introduced on Sept. 1, one day before the Buckeyes season opener against Marshall.

The 107th edition of Ohio State and Michigan will be played on Nov. 27 in Columbus.

Robinson steps up: Spring practice began with talk of Denard Robinson playing other positions besides quarterback. The session ended with Robinson looking like the Wolverines' top signal caller. A full offseason in the program paid off for Robinson, who proved why he should stay at quarterback and closed the gap with last year's starter, Tate Forcier. Robinson capped it off with a strong spring game performance, leading the offense to touchdowns on five of six possessions and firing a 97-yard scoring pass to Roy Roundtree.

For the last three weekends I have hoped, prayed and meditated on the possibility that this Michigan team would snap out of whatever it is in. But that was not meant to be, the reality of the situation has revealed itself in flying colors and unfortunate for Michigan fans those colors are Maize and Blue.

A feeling of weakness and confusion is apparent in the body language of a team that leaped into the season 4-0 and had a swagger that was surprising and unexpected. Then, things started to fall apart and by "things" I mean everything.

I feel that this team lacks true leadership. There is no hard nosed, kill or be killed attitude that should flow from the coaching staff through to the players. Seeminly each player is going in a completely different direction.

Michigan players are getting outplayed in just about every position except for that one spot on Defense filled by #55. (Shoutout to Brandon Graham)

Are the players not buying into the Rich Rodriguez system? Are they given a choice to buy in or not? I will tell you one thing, Bo didn't give his players the choice. Either buy in, play your ass off until the final whistle or hit the f***ing door.

The University took a chance completely changing the system at Michigan and guess what? they are going to have to live with that choice. At this point in the Big Ten season I see smaller, faster players that are absolutely worn out from being hit hard and leaned on by larger, more determined players.

Whatever happens on Saturday Rich Rodriguez and his staff have allot to prove and I have a feeling he has a limited time to in which to prove it.

I am usually very pumped for Michigan vs Ohio State week but this season, not so much. As much as I want Michigan to beat OSU, whatever the outcome, does it really matter? At Michigan 5-6 is just as impressive as 6-6.

This Michigan team is gasping for last breaths of life, as sad as it seems, there is little to no hope to resuscitate this 2009 season.

Michigan walks themselves into another Buzz Saw. Reminded me a little of last season's game.

Illinois just obliterates the Wolverines, exposing what I think is the real Michigan team. Fumbles, dropped passes, muffed returns, sloppy tackling, etc.

Rich Rodriguez best get this team out of the woods, right about...Now. The defeated body language of this team is not acceptable. At this point it is up to the coaching staff to bust the team out of this funk.

The team CAN play better and they are not executing and are not playing hard nosed, hard hitting football. There is no hard ass attitude. Seems like the first little drawback that happens in the game and the team just gives up and falls to pieces. This has to change.

This team needs a little BO, don't you think?

Rich Rodriguez must turn this season around and it must start Saturday vs Purdue.

Penn State Blows Up the Big House

Wow!

It has been a Long time since Penn State has won a game at the Big House. I really don't think that Penn State is that good of a team, Michigan sure did make them look good though.

I think it was quite apparent that Michigan had a total collapse. There wasn't one aspect of the game in which Michigan did not just "drop the ball", playing like it was the 5th quarter of the Delaware State game. Ok, except for #55 (he is the man).

Out coached, out talented, out played, out hit, I have no explanation, do you? I am a little tired of the "this is a young team" excuse. Time to man up and execute.

In the big picture, Michigan still Owns Penn State, but last weekend was quite an embarrassment.

Hope the team can get it's s*** together and beat Illinois.

Carlos Brown No Go for Iowa Game.

Saying that this game is big, would be quite an understatement. Yes, the big Rivalry with Michigan State was a big game, as upset as I am about that loss I do not believe that game was the most important of the season.

It was only a matter of time before a mistake or mistakes would be made by this young team and I think that those mistakes have taken place. The team is ready to move forward. The road jitters are past. The staff and the team know that this could be THE definitive turning point of Michigan's Big Ten Season.

A loss Saturday would in fact, seal the Wolverine's fate (in the rankings). They will have lost 2 road games, 2 conference games, and the loss would come on prime time National Television.

The Top 25 will be so far out of reach it would be a miracle to even sniff 25, the only possible re-entry to the top 25 would only come about if Michigan were to beat a still high ranked OSU team on November 21st.

A win at Iowa would not only give the Wolverines new life in the rankings but would prove to the team that the 4-0 start to the season was not a fluke. Iowa is always well coached and they have talent to go with the coaching this season. Some feel Iowa at #12 is giving them too much credit, but that is not for me to hash out. All I know is that un-ranked Michigan must beat the #12 team this Saturday to salvage this Big Ten season, and more importantly to give this team a shot of confidence going into the remainder of the season.

Many have jumped the bandwagon since the MSU loss. Sure the Defense needs tweaking, maybe even an overhaul, that is nothing Michigan fans are surprised by, but as this Seattle PI article points out;

"Overall this season, Michigan is scoring 34.0 ppg while racking up 388.0 total ypg. The Wolverines have scored 21 offensive touchdowns, 12 of which have come via the ground attack. They are gaining 197.8 rushing ypg at a clip of 4.8 ypc, and Carlos Brown leads the way with 336 yards to accompany his three touchdowns. As for Forcier, he has completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 894 yards and nine scores with three interceptions. Michigan is converting 43 percent of its third down conversion attempts this season."

This type of Offense is something Michigan fans are NOT used to. It has been a long time since I felt the confidence in a Michigan offense as I do today. Even when things seem out of reach (MSU game 4th Qt), I just want the ball back in Tate Forcier's hands. He seems to have a great handle on this offense, even at this very young point in his career at Michigan. The team seems to feed off of his, "Always find a way not to lose" attitude.

Iowa so far has shown that they have a defense that must be taken seriously, holding Penn State to 10 points at Penn State. On the other hand Iowa's offense is not explosive. Michigan must play disciplined and get on the board early, unlike last weeks game. Iowa is the type of team that if they are close in the late minutes they can hold you down and capitalize off of mistakes.

Yes it hurts, two years in a row a loss to Michigan State. But really did you ever fathom a 4-0 start to this season? (that was a gift) Did you ever think that Tate Forcier, the freshman QB would be described as "there is a new star in college football...", or mentioned in the same sentence as possible Heisman candidates? Nope, not me at least.

The loss hurts, hurts bad but, we can't be surprised or blindsided. MSU's D had Michigan's number for the whole game and just when the game seemed out of reach, Michigan scored two TD's to get right back in the game, then send it to OT. Then hey! the freshman played like freshmen, they made mistakes on the road in a very hostile rivalry game. Surprise surprise. A rivalry game against a team that historically thrives on dirty play (cheating), simply because they can't compete straight up.

The great thing is, this game isn't a once in a lifetime opportunity, Michigan has a Future. Sure MSU enjoys jumping up once and a while beating Michigan, but what do they really have to look forward too? Yet another schizophrenic underachieving season, and many more epic meltdowns, that's what.

Michigan on the other hand, with some more experience and a little more discipline will be a Force to be reckoned with on a National scale. Count on it.

So, back to reality, now suck it up and get back out there. We only have to put up with MSU fans for one more year.

It's probably not much consolation to Indiana fans, but a lot of people gained respect for the Hoosiers after watching them nearly knock off No. 22 Michigan last Saturday in Ann Arbor.

From Indiana's media relations department:

The football game between Indiana and Michigan was the second-most watched Big Ten football game ever on ESPN2, the conference announced today. Nearly 2.1 million households tuned in to see the contest, which saw the Wolverines edge the Hoosiers, 36-33.

The contest was watched by more people than any Big Ten game on ESPN2 since 2006, which saw the Ohio State-Illinois game watched by just over 2.1 million households. With a rating of 2.10, the game earned the fourth-highest rating for a Big Ten game on ESPN2.

The Warnings have been given.

One of many warning shots have been fired, and Michigan (with the help of late game heroics of Tate Forcier) have dodged those bullets. I don't think luck runs out, I think it changes. It is much like force, when it meets an equal or greater force, a change will occur.

As seen in the game versus Indiana the Defense seemed to rise, to certain occasions stopping Indiana 3 times inside Michigan's 15 yard line, then all of the sudden with the game seemingly in balance the defense allows the Indiana running back, Darius Willis to rattle off an 85 yard, game changing touchdown run, not to mention giving up 467 net yards to 10th or 11th worst team in the Big Ten. (Reminds me of another run)

Michigan is now going on the road for the first time this season. First to a pissed off (1-3) Spartan Stadium. I always fear this rivalry game because no matter how good or how bad either team is, it usually means very little. (Cliche I know, but true) The road game I have my butt clinched about is Iowa.

Iowa is a very well coached team and has a very tenacious defense that all but stuffed the Nittany Lions, White Out be damned. Will this tenacious defense be that force that will change the luck of Tate Forcier and the Michigan Wolverines?

Iowa does not have a devastating rushing attack, but I have NO doubt that Kirk Ferentz will concentrate on establishing the run against the undersized Michigan D-line.

Will Greg Robinson heed these warnings? The Michigan faithful can only hope, wait and see. G-Rob best tighten up this defense for Saturday's road game at MSU or he may be taking a break from the X's and O's to work on his resume.

Am I worried? Not really. Although I do see that some improvement is needed in the Michigan Defense. At this point If the Michigan D was to break down and allow a big rushing game for Indiana, the Offense will step up and outscore the Hoosiers.

It is great to see the team go to the Student section after a win at the Big house. Great new tradition.

Very fond memory of being at the Rose Bowl game in 97 when the team came over and sang The Victors with all of us fans after beating Washington State.

We knew Molk was out, and head coach Rich Rodriguez announced that Moosman will start at center. Michigan probably can survive without Williams for a game or two, but the Wolverines need him back soon. Freshman Jordan Kovacs could get the start at safety.

Rodriguez announced that linebacker Stevie Brown, quarterback David Cone, wide receiver Greg Mathews and punter Zoltan Mesko will serve as captains for the game.

Michigan fans want nothing more than to put last season's 9 losses, and no bowl game as far back in the rear view mirror as possible. The recent big win at the Big House versus the favored Fighting Irish has begun to move the car forward, maybe too quickly. A win this coming weekend versus Indiana will push the Wolverines a game over the win total from last season and that creates some dangerous emotions, I may start to get real attached, again.

As mentioned in this article by Peter Schrager, (FCS) "Three weeks into the college football season, Notre Dame, Michigan and Miami fans have reasons to leave their homes again. With a combined 7-1 record and a slew of positive headlines and good chatter in the media, it appears as though the big dogs are back."

They are Back!! Wait, perhaps the media and the Michigan fans are getting ahead of themselves? Are the positive headlines and the top 25 ranking too much, too soon?

This is still a very young team, a team that has not gotten into the grind of Big Ten conference play. As most, I have very high hopes, but my hopes are for the future, next season and the next. (the long term relationship, if you will) There is no doubt that there is some serious talent on this team, but all of the hoopla and endorphin rushes so far this season has some fans thinking Roses, or at least a top tier bowl game.

I can't possibly think that far, I fantasize about it of course . What could possibly be better than the fairy tale of chumps to champs. But my thoughts remain with Saturday's game and that is as far as I let my mind wander. (At least that is what I tell myself)

As any red blooded Michigan fan, one can't help but think of that last game of the season, but again I can't buy into the media hype, just yet, arrgh.

For now, I have to reign in my hopes but, I will no doubt unleash my hopes when and if Michigan comes through with wins on the road against MSU and Iowa.(I mean really, I am not that easy, am I?) Two very big tests for the young QB's and a team that obviously is comfortable at home.

Regardless of what happens near or at the end of the season, these first three game of the 09 season have been amazing to watch, and have sparked what many think is the turnaround of the Michigan program.

I get more and more emotionally involved with each win, as much as I try to have a no strings relationship with Michigan Football, it never quite works out that way. I end up getting all mushy and then a loss comes and I find myself on the couch with a half gallon of Haagen Das cursing the stars for continuing to shining on such a dark night.

Yes I have been buzzing since Saturday just as every other Michigan fan and Notre Dame hater has been but, Hey! Eastern Michigan is coming to town this weekend.

Just throwing it out there, they lost to Northwestern by 3 points. At this point I am not sure if NU sucks or EMU is just that good.

EMU had 320 total yards, 148 air, and 172 on the ground. Very close to what NU had.

Not freaking out, but hey, It would REALLY SUCK if Michigan was to bask in the glee of the ND win and not be 100% in this game. Here is the BOXSCORE from the NU and EMU game.

I personally do not like ANY messing with the uniforms. I know there have been small changes over the years, Nike to Adidas, hues of the maize and blue have changed, the piping, block M on the bottoms. But the overall look has not changed eeeever and should not, in my opinion.

The high flying Oregon Ducks with their monumentally hideous uniforms took to national TV last night against Boise State. Unfortunately for the Ducks, it was not a nationally broadcasted Sucker Punch Contest.

Oregon, usually waits until much later in the season to choke, but they wasted no time this season, falling, actually getting handled by Boise State on their equally hideous Blue Home Turf (19-8)

Wishing Boise State well for the season and I am really hoping that the RB Blount gets charged with assault and never sees another NCAA Field again. Just because a player is in a football context, does not make him exempt from the Law, Period.

Yes, 10 days remain until the 2009 Football Season kicks off in the Big House. I can't wait and at the same time wish I could put it off just a little bit longer.

As a Michigan fan at this moment in time I feel like a tight rope walker with no net. Just letting it all hang out there.

I have NEVER dreaded a first game of a season especially against Western Michigan. Yet I find myself overcome with insecurity, having never been in this specific situation in my lifetime. All my non-Michigan friends of course shower me with gloom and doom scenarios laced with Appalachian State references. I have to brush them off and look to the future.

A future that is in the hands of the "New Operating System" manager, Rich Rodriguez. Can he use the talent that is at Michigan and has recently arrived? I have to believe he can and do believe he will.

Looking forward to the new season.

Chris Perry on the Lamb?

WYOMING, Ohio -- Police are seeking a former Cincinnati Bengal after he failed to appear in court last month.

Chris Perry, a running back selected in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft, is wanted in Wyoming for failure to pay city income taxes in 2006 and 2007.

He failed to appear for a June 17 court hearing on those charges, and police issued the warrant Tuesday for his arrest.

The former Michigan Wolverines running back, whose professional career was derailed by injuries, was cut by the Bengals in April.
