Jason Gingell was seen in a field just outside of Ann Arbor practicing his place kicking. Witnesses to this tragic event said that the pigskin never hit its target.
A spokesperson for the Wolverine's Special Teams said: "Jason is coming along, the ball did ricochet off a sparrow, we believe that is some sort of omen so that gives us hope".
