Ohio State's Uniform for Michigan Game

Ohio State's new "Michigan Week" tradition: Polarizing uniform changes mean to honor both the distant, halcyon past and the vast marketing reach of the almighty Swoosh. Last year, the Buckeyes broke out a white-domed Storm Trooper look with numbers on the helmets for the trip to Ann Arbor, in tribute to OSU teams of the early '50s. This year, in conjunction with Nike's season-long "Pro Combat" campaign, they're sporting a red-on-red look to commemorate the 1942 champs, many of whom were subsequently deployed in World War II. It is not that Michigan fans do not already know this, it is the class that it takes to talk this way. It doesn't surprise me, at all. Think back, when was the last time a Michigan alum in the media, or not, talked this way about another Big Ten team. It just shows you the caliber of person that comes out of that University.

Oh the pain, the pain

Looking forward to the Bye week. I know I need it, not sure if it will be a good or bad thing for the team, actually I don't think it will make any difference.

No, I am not all gloom and doom, I just see the reality of the situation. This Michigan team just isn't that good of a team.

Like I have said before, it will take a few years (at least) to get top notch athletes into this program that will flourish in this system.

Two bright spots this past weekend were, Sam McGuffie is the man! and I got to sit and relax and watch tOSU crash and burn and get absolutely embarrassed once again in Prime Time on National TV.

Notre Dame beating Michigan was really not a huge surprise, but many felt that tOSU was going to actually give USC a game. Once again Pete Carroll out coaches and out athletes another Big Ten "Powerhouse". The Big stage just doesn't seem to suit Jim Tressel. Hmmm I think I remember many Bucknut fans talking that way about Lloyd Carr. I mean sure Michigan got punked by Carroll a few times but, hey at least Michigan actually felt the turf in the end zone a few times.

Well I am not going to pull any hair out about this season, although every loss hurts, I could never stop supporting the Michigan team and program. Looking forward to better times.

Still Alive

Even after Appalachian State, even after Oregon, and now even after Wisconsin, Michigan is still in the hunt for the Big Ten Title.

Michigan's D looks slow and lost, could not stop the Badger offense, and made Tyler Donavan look like an All-American. Michigan D's have a knack for making QB's that are not that good look superhuman.

Michigan's QB is, a freshman that is really all I need to say. He made some good plays, but Michigan didn't need some good plays they needed many.

There is a real cohesion problem on this team, and Mario Manningham has let stardom go to his head and that is all I have to say about him. My overall impression was, Michigan played like a bunch of powder puffs and gave Wisconsin this game. There is also a real coaching problem on this team, are they not teaching FUNDAMENTAL football anymore? And Michigan needs to get back to recruiting hard nose players that want to hit and want to punish players, this team is void of that attitude, grit and toughness.

Congrats to Illinois! a great game at the Flip Flop, I mean the Shoe. I am telling you Illinois is the team to look out for in the Big Ten in the next few years.

Today on the Jim Rome show, Karen Holbrook, ex-president of THE Ohio State University said that the college is a culture of rioting and drunken orgies.

The Crystal Ball

Mark Schlabach of ESPN has looked into his crystal ball and the season is already ruined for the Wolverines. I think this SEC lover hasn't been looking into his crystal ball he has been drinking too much Cristal.

"Peering into the crystal ball revealed the following five predictions for the 2007 Big Ten season:

1. The Wisconsin-Michigan winner takes the Big Ten title both teams will be unbeaten going into their Nov. 10 showdown at Camp Randall Stadium.

The Badgers' biggest scare will come at Penn State on Oct. 13, and they'll squeak out a win at Ohio State on Nov. 3.

The Wolverines will survive early-season shootouts against Oregon and Penn State, then the defense will hit its stride. Michigan will beat Wisconsin by a field goal, then lose to Ohio State the following week, costing the Wolverines a spot in the BCS Championship Game."

I think Mark's crystal ball is a bit blurry, the Wolverines will handle the Badgers about the same as last season and will win the Ohio State game by 3-6 points.
