Indiana-Michigan game draws high ratings

October 1, 2009 5:13 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg

It's probably not much consolation to Indiana fans, but a lot of people gained respect for the Hoosiers after watching them nearly knock off No. 22 Michigan last Saturday in Ann Arbor.

From Indiana's media relations department:

The football game between Indiana and Michigan was the second-most watched Big Ten football game ever on ESPN2, the conference announced today. Nearly 2.1 million households tuned in to see the contest, which saw the Wolverines edge the Hoosiers, 36-33.

The contest was watched by more people than any Big Ten game on ESPN2 since 2006, which saw the Ohio State-Illinois game watched by just over 2.1 million households. With a rating of 2.10, the game earned the fourth-highest rating for a Big Ten game on ESPN2.

A Hurt Forcier Does it Again

“It’s a bruised shoulder,” Forcier said, not specifying which one was hurt. “We’ll take a look at it and see what we have and we’ll go from there.”

...leaping for a go-ahead TD and a 2-point conversion to put Michigan ahead 29-26 with 9 minutes left.

Michigan Vs Indiana (Injury Report)

Via: ESPN
Michigan has issued its injury report for Saturday's game against Indiana
(ESPN2, noon ET).

-OUT

Center David Molk, foot

-DOUBTFUL

Safety Mike Williams, ankle

-PROBABLE

Center David Moosman, shoulder
Guard Tim McAvoy, knee.

We knew Molk was out, and head coach Rich Rodriguez announced that Moosman will start at center. Michigan probably can survive without Williams for a game or two, but the Wolverines need him back soon. Freshman Jordan Kovacs could get the start at safety.

Rodriguez announced that linebacker Stevie Brown, quarterback David Cone, wide receiver Greg Mathews and punter Zoltan Mesko will serve as captains for the game.

Some Head to Head Matchups

I don't take Indiana lightly, I just love this picture.

VIA: HoosierNation.com

"It doesn’t want to turn this game into a shootout, since Michigan has proven to be much better at producing big plays than Indiana has in the first three weeks."
