Tales From the Crypt

Michigan Clawing back from the Football Dead

Grit, is what this team showed on Saturday night in CHAMPAIGN. Three of the Wolverines top players were out of the game at some point. Of course #20 was on the sideline due to an ankle sprain. Then Chad Henne left the game with a possible shoulder injury, last but not least the Wolverine's top receiver then left the game for an unknown reason, presumably and injury.

The Illinois home crowd was loud and hostile, Michigan, historically has a hard time getting started in night games, all of good fortune seemed to be pointing away and in favor of Illinois.

Illinois sacked Chad Henne three times and Ryan Mallet one time in his back up of the injured Henne. Illinois, played quite a dirty game, with plenty of holding, many dirty hits and blatant facemasks.

Even with all of the things going against them, including three turnovers, the Wolverines kept the penalties to a minimum, they dug deep and pulled out a gutsy win against the up and coming Illini.

Key play: recovery of muffed punt that turned into 7 points.

"After signaling for a fair catch, Hudson dropped the ball at his own 13. Michigan senior Sean Griffith fell on it."

Key Numbers: Penalties, Illinois 10-107, Michigan 4-35.

Running Back Play: Carlos Brown 25-113 yrds
