Historical Comeback

I was as giddy as a school girl so I decided to do some of my own hack video of the end of the game.

I don't know if it was Michael Phelps or Mike Hart being on the sidelines but Michigan was charmed on Saturday.

Another Heroic Game By Henne

AP Article

Henne tied a school record with four TDs, the last two in the final 6:47.

"Chad won the game for us," Hart said. "It should quiet the naysayers because no other quarterback could've led a comeback like that."

Henne was 18-of-33 for 211 yards with one interception after missing the previous game with a shoulder injury. Manningham caught eight passes for 129 yards.

My Deep Thoughts:
Again pathetic play calling on offense let the Spartans hang around. Michigan had many chances in the first half to put MSU on the ropes and failed to do so. I am done wondering what the problem is with the offensive play calling, the coordinators are pathetic. Running this outdated behind the line of scrimmage crap when the team clearly needs to get yardage (downfield) and put the stake in the heart of the hated Spartans. (No, wait until you absolutely need it, like when you are losing in the 4th QT and desperate.)

Two minutes left in the first half, why not let Henne run the 2 min no huddle offense? No Michigan is just fine going into the locker room with an 11 point lead instead of an 18 point lead. UGH - pulling hair.

Why would you want to run progressive plays when you have a chance to put a team away in the first half, well the "master plan" was to let MSU hang around and force your (injured) QB to make heroic throws in the 4th QT to pull out the win.

The talk is always about how MSU is playing the way they always have, how about the Wolverines, how many times must we endure this type of play calling? It just may cost Michigan in one of the next two games.

He Lurks Around Every Corner, I mean Loss

After the devastating loss to Appy State and then the crushing by the Ducks, every Michigan blog and Internet forum were on overload with fans that wanted Lloyd Carr's head on a stake out on State Street.

There is nothing like winning to quiet the homicidal fantasies and the loud cries to the angel of death. Yet, the mob is restless. They hear the Lions off in the distance, the hurt and vengeful Lions, so thirsty for Wolverine blood. (See Video)

Penn State fans celebrate Michigan's downfall at the hands of the Appy State.

Most fans know that Michigan beat a really, REALLY bad Notre Dame team, but that isn't the point, Michigan won. It took much of the focus off of the Wolverines and has now shifted it squarely on the shoulders of the Irish and other teams that were unexpectedly crushed, (enter #11 UCLA, Louisville, etc..).

Michigan fans are resting their hopes in the knowledge that Michigan has OWNED Penn State and JoPa for the last 8 years, and cannot deny that it has been Lloyd Carr on the sideline opposite of the icon they call JoPa. Pay that no matter. If Penn State comes to the Big House and lands a vengeful blow to this Michigan team, the Maize will don black and the cries will once again begin, heating up hard drives from east coast to west, post counts will rocket in forums, YouTube confessionals will blather on and hate filled e-mails will bulge the inbox of Michigan's AD.

He awaits the next loss, just around the corner, waiting for the loud cries to beckon him once again. He holds no allegiance to any measly college football team, he belongs to a much bigger conference that never gets cheated.

Yet once again, the metallic sound of the razor sharp sickle will not be heard. The mob marching with their torches (keyboards) will be in vain. Yet another week, Lloyd will still be in the tower looking down, and he will continue to give really snide answers to questions.

Expectations 07

Todd / Maize and Blue Blog

With kickoff just days away all the hype is directly placed on Michigan's ridiculous offensive talent. Needless to say the expectations for this team this season are no less then they are every season. The fans of the Wolverines expect the team to beat OSU, win the Big 10 and furthermore, they expect them to win the NC. Even when the team isn't as loaded as it this year these are the expectations. That is just how it is at Michigan. But, the pinnacle has alluded Michigan for many years. Being ever so close but just falling short.

For years I have felt that the Michigan program has squandered the talent they have. Not letting them loose and giving them the chance to change games. How many years did Michigan not use Braylon Edwards to his full potential? It only became apparent against Michigan State, in a triple OT thriller, where he practically won that game on his own.

Braylon was the type of player that thrived on the chance to beat people with his ability. In that trip OT game Henne chucked the ball up and let Braylon literally take the win away from MSU.

Here is some video, just in case you have forgotten what happend that day. *With a little help from L.L.

Fans always hammered Braylon for dropping crossing pattern (seemingly easy) plays. The fact is, he was not that type of player. (Steve Breaston was) Braylon wanted to go down field and beat people, out jump corners and beat double teams, he could and did. But the coaches at Michigan didn't exploit that talent until they absolutely had to. Then in the Rose Bowl game against Texas they were using Braylon's talent again, no one on Texas could stop him, and what did the Michigan coaching staff do? They stopped throwing to him. I just couldn't understand it. If the opponent can't stop him, keep throwing to him. Do you think Texas was going to stop letting Vince Young run the ball? Hell no! Michigan couldn't stop him.

So back to this season. With the weapons on offense, Michigan should be able to outscore any team. I am not worried about the Defense, we have lost many key players on D but Michigan always has talent to step in a bring it. With Jake Long anchoring the Offense, Henne needs to take charge and run this offense and no one can underestimate the spark and confidence that a great player like Mike Hart injects into this team, the whole team, not just the offense. These three kids really will be laying a foundation to make the blurs at wide out blow things up. Mario Manningham and Adrian Arrington should get plenty of yardage and many TD's this year and it is up to the coaching staff to call the plays to let them loose and let their talent change the game.

GO BLUE!
